Hello!
For the third year in a row, Team Lou Pitchoun USA is proud to participate to the Light The Night Walk in Hampton Roads, VA, to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We started this family fundraising project in 2013, at the end of my first chemo, and we actually walked all together a little over one month after the completion of my treatment and after I was declared on remission for the first time. The second year, I was going through treatment again during the few months before the event, and I was done with treatment and on remission for the actual walk. This year, so far so good, still on remission, so I am full of energy to lead this year’s event to great results. Plus, I have one more surprise I am very proud of, but shhh… this is a secret for now 😉
Supporting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is very important to us, for many reasons. Shortly after my diagnosis and the beginning of my chemo, I was able to get many answers to my questions through resources made available by LLS. After my relapse, my second chemo used a drug that was developed in part with funding from LLS. Today, I am glad to have found a local support group led by LLS that helps me cope with the aftermath of treatments and meet with local young adult survivors like me.
This fundraising project supporting LLS is also very symbolic to me: when I registered for the walk three years ago, I needed a name for the team, and this is how I came up with Lou Pitchoun USA, which later gave birth to this blog and to this whole new writing adventure.
In 2013, we were able to raise $3,611.00, and last year, $1,495.00. This year, our fundraising goal is $3000.00.
So we need you again this year: Donate, Walk with us, Spread the Word, whatever you are willing to do, all together, we are doing great things!
Thank you for your support.
